FRIDAY 30 SEPTEMBER 2011
When talking about whale watching trips at Hervey Bay, people often use words like “awe-inspiring”, “spiritual” or even “life-changing”. I would have said all of these things about our close up encounter with these beautiful mums and newborn calves today, if I didn’t spend the majority of the time on the boat with my head in a vomit bag.  Luckily Troy has better sea legs than me, so assumed the role of chief photographer.
Despite the rough swell, we got amazing views of whales swimming under our boat, feeding their newborns and even teaching them how to breach. Seeing the little guy jumping out of the water in a copycat of his mum was just beautiful.
